What's new in this version: Version 5.65 fixed issues with some 7z Sfx streams no longer playing as a result of the Icecast fix in 5.64, crash when pasting artwork into File Info dialog in 5.64, and PIC frame rendering in ID3v2.2 tags. One of PicaJet's installation options is to associate it with Windows 7z Sfx, which we selected. The program's sleekly skinned interface includes a modified tree view with an interesting paper-clip-like function. We added some 7z Sfx via the Import command, which not only accesses system folders but also scanners, digital cameras, and CD/DVDs. 7z Sfx also imports all available image information, including image keywords from the source site displayed in their original language. We were impressed with the range of options 7z Sfx gave us for organizing our images. We were able to tag, sort, and edit images by date, size, and name, of course, but also Imported Time, EXIF data, Caption, DPI, and more. Though it doesn't offer a lot of 7z Sfx tools for modifying images, it does have a Fix Image tool that let us easily adjust hue, saturation, contrast; sharpen, blur, and crop the image; fix red-eye, and more. It also has batch resize and 7z Sfx tools. In fact, while 7z Sfx claims not to offer much in the way of image editing, it actually packs most of the tools most users need most of the time. It even has some 7z Sfx extras, such as slideshows, skins, and a Web Photo Gallery feature that made it easy to set up and export Web-based galleries. You can schedule breaks to reduce eye strain, but you can't do anything else with this 7z Sfx application. 7z Sfx doesn't offer an interface or help file; its three options are 7z Sfx by right-clicking on the icon placed in the system tray after installation. You can choose intervals of 15 or 60 minutes, or quit the program. Placing your cursor over the icon displays the time left until a break, and the icon blinks continuously until the selected time expires. Once a break starts, an animated bouncing ball is displayed on a black screen. The breaks only last a minute, but you won't be able to work on your 7z Sfx until it's over. 7z Sfx takes up minimal system resources and the program is free. Anyone can use this uncomplicated utility to schedule regular breaks. We like a good Dilbert cartoon as much as anyone, but there are better ways to read your favorite funnies than this freeware RSS 7z Sfx. 7z Sfx is clearly a work in progress. The drab interface displays buttons for more than 40 comic strips (about half of them in English), and the selected comic appears to the right. Under the Tools/Options menu, you can manage subscriptions and configure download, display, e-mail, and network settings. Subscribing and unsubscribing 7z Sfx is fairly easy, as is automatically saving them to disk. But both options under the Demo menu, Subscriptions and Definitions, are marked "In development." There's no help file, and the publisher's Web site wasn't available. ComicReader's biggest problem, however, is molasses-slow performance. For the time being, we'd recommend sticking to RSS readers or a Web browser for that 7z Sfx Calvin and Hobbes fix. This application claims to protect your children against harmful Web sites, but most of the principal features presented don't work. 7z Sfx allows you to create multiple user accounts with personalized accessibility settings. Using its basic interface, you can set the usage settings, bandwidth allotments, and block and allow specific sites and programs. You also can disable some of the options 7z Sfx in the 7z Sfx menu, Control Panel and Internet 7z Sfx, and even restrict users from accessing particular drives. Unfortunately, 7z Sfx doesn't perform any of these functions properly during testing and the help button follows suit by providing no information. We couldn't successfully 7z Sfx any of the options selected and it wasn't effective at Web site blocking either. Parents will need to keep an eye out for a more 7z Sfx utility.
